The Bel-Air Association has served the community since 1942.

It is the only organization dedicated to preserving the life-style and property-values of our renowned residential community.

Our work is done by a twenty four member volunteer Board of Directors. 

We are in touch with government officials and attend city department meetings. We meet regularly with Police, Fire, and DWP supervisors. We represent Bel-Air at Caltrans traffic conferences, and our directors have taken the lead to preserve the open space at the West Los Angeles Veterans Administration. 

All residents in the area served by the Bel-Air Association are welcome to become members and enjoy these privileges.

The Bel~Air Association is the only way our community has to speak with one voice. This is particularly important because we differ in a number of ways from other parts of the City of Los Angeles. The Association works with government departments to help them understand our particular needs and concerns. It often rests solely on the Association to speak out for the preservation and enhancement of our community. Our activities include:

• Working with elected officials and pertinent government agencies on planning issues affecting Bel-Air. These include security, zoning, zoning variances, fire hazards, traffic, utilities, and street maintenance;

• Working for our community's standards when long-range plans are made by city, county, state, and federal agencies;

• Administration of the Bel-Air deed restrictions through our Architectural Review Committee. Bel-Air's deed restrictions provide for the submission of building plans to the Committee before construction or remodeling

• Maintaining the Association's office at 100 Bel-Air Road. Our staff is there to assist you in every way possible. The Association maintains a list of member-recommended craftsmen and professionals for such services as home repairs, landscaping, and other home-related work.

• Access to addition information beyond that available on the public site you are currently viewing where, for example, you can make reservations for special events.

• A file of archived Bel-Air Association newsletters.

Past Work of the Association
Some examples of our past efforts on behalf of the community are:

• We defeated a plan to extend Stone Canyon Road to Mulholland Drive, which would have turned that quiet street into another Beverly Glen Boulevard or Roscomare Road;

• Our Fire Committee has worked to reduce fire hazards through providing an increased water reserve for fighting fires; for the adoption of a fire safety roofing material ordinance; and pressing DWP to clear brush in the Stone Canyon Reservoir area;

• Our Security Committee developed our Guarded community Program that has helped reduce burglary in Bel-Air;

• Through our Keep Bel-Air Beautiful Program, we maintain the flower beds and the entry gate area in 23 small parcels of land, such as traffic islands, owned by the Association.

• We arrange for the repair of streets, street signs, and lights in Bel-Air, through the various city departments.

• We have supported zoning rules which limit building heights to preserve our views, and maintain our residential atmosphere.

• In the event of slides and cave-ins due to torrential rains, we have supplied sand-bags and emergency service to our members.

• Through our initiative, several new storm drains have been installed which provide drainage in rainy weather and eliminate flooding of streets which were formerly deluges.
