At Beit hall, there are many people here who can help make your stay enjoyable, although at times the difference between them can be confusing, so here is a quick explanation of who's who. THE WARDENS Wardens are people who stay at Beit Hall and are in charge of overseeing the running of the hall. In general they are PhD students and Lecturers, but despite that, they are actually very friendly! It is very easy to reach them and they are usually at the end of every corridor, so they are never far away. Beit East Wing ![]() Hi, I'm Neil McIntyre, Warden, with responsibility for running our team here in Beit Hall. I came to Imperial from Scotland 14 years ago, planning to stay for just one year, but was enticed into a long-term stay by the excitement and challenge of life in London. Imperial is the best place to study (you have chosen wisely); Beit is the best place to live (you have been lucky). I'm supported by an excellent team of enthusiastic and experienced Hall Seniors and wardens and we aim to help you to be happy and successful during your times here. So please feel free to approach us at any time, before or after you arrive. I look forward to meeting you all at some point during the coming term. ![]() Welcome to Beit. I'm the Assistant Warden for the East Wing and a lecturer in Mechanical Engineering. Before coming to Imperial, I lived in California where the tube is something you watch and don't ride (tube=TV), pants are actually trousers (keep yours on while in the hallways), and jumpers are hardly necessary. I enjoy living in London now, especially being in Beit Hall, and I'm sure you'll enjoy it as well. Wardening aside, I play a lot of squash, I can hold my own on a basketball court and I do some ceramics. I want to meet as many of you as possible, so don't hesitate to stop by my place (room 243). Andreas Procopiou (Subwarden) Hello there! I’m Matt, Subwarden on East Ground and I welcome you all to Beit Hall. I’m in my second year of a PhD, working in the Department of Materials (though I’m really a Chemist). When I’m not in the lab cooking things up, I really enjoy cooking things up in the kitchen, especially baking cakes. My time as an undergraduate studying in Scotland got me into Munro (Scottish mountain) climbing, and this is something I still like to pursue, along with taking photographs of mountains. During this time I also developed a taste for single malt whisky – see me if you wish to know anything more on this subject! Feel free to pop round to my room for proper cup of Yorkshire tea and a chat! Beit West Wing
Hello and welcome to Imperial College and Beit. I am Savvas the assistant warden of the West Wing. Originally from Cyprus, I have spent the last 7 years at Imperial, initally as an undergraduate student, then as a PhD student and now as a Research assistant. Having lived in a number of Imperial College Halls I can assure you that this is one of the best (if not the best) place to live. I hope to meet you soon and if you need anything, feel free to drop by my room (420). ![]()
Annabelle Jayaraman (Subwarden)
Hello, I'm Annabelle and I love coffee, it's "gu" ;) . . . if you've got any questions or simply want to have a chat come to see me! ![]() Hello and welcome to Beit! I'm Ling and I have just begun a PhD in Chemical Engineering. I'd like to think I specialise in "advanced materials" but it's really just an excuse to mix up different chemicals in the hope of discovering something new and fantastic! Do drop by if you have questions or need a listening ear. I was also a fresher not (too) long ago! It's a pleasure to welcome you to Beit and make the coming year one you will never forget! Nathalie Skrzypek (Subwarden)
Hello everyone! My name is Nat, I am polish, but was raised in Austria and am doing a PhD in Astrophysics. I moved to England for my undergrad 5 years ago and absolutely loved it ever since. I enjoy playing Volleyball and Swimming and attempt to play guitar :p. Even though I only started in Beit in June, I think this place has a great atmosphere and that loads of fun times are ahead of us. If you ever feel like a chat, feel free to knock on my door or walk up to me in the quad or common room :p I am always happy to listen/chat :p I am very excited to meet you soon! xxx THE HALL SENIORS Hall seniors are students who have stayed at Beit Hall in the past, and due to their responsible fun loving attitude, earned another year stay in the hall to help make Beit fun for all the new students. Beit East Wing ![]() Aung Oo EG (40) Hello Guys Welcome to Imperial and more importantly, BEIT!!! My name is Aung and I am going to be a second year mechanical engineering student. This is going to be my second year in Beit as I just can’t get away from the coolest hall of all. =) I know it’s such a daunting experience to come to university for the first year. Please don’t worry about it at all and everything will be fine as time goes by. If you need someone to talk to, feel free to come and knock on my door. I’m a good listener and am willing to help at my best. Hope you have an amazing time while you are in Beit and best of luck for everything! See you all soon!!! =)
Angela Leung E1 (149)
Hi, I'm Angela, a third year biochemist and I'm from the East Midlands of the UK! I love sports (I play netball for Imperial College but also love other sports such as cricket, football and rugby union) but I also love girly things such as fashion, glossy magazines and gossip ;) Anyway, if you ever want to talk about anything (chances are, I'll have an interest in it, however slight!), feel free to knock on my door! I'm a sucker for sitting around with a cup of (green!) tea and just talking and gossiping (mainly about celebrities and tv shows though, not people I know!) :)
Emma Amoafo E2 (256) Hey! I'm Emma, a third year medic. First of all, well done for getting into Imperial and more importantly, well done for getting into Beit! Chris Aspinall E4 (440) Hi! I’m Chris, a 2nd year mathematician living on the E4 corridor this year. Last year, I enjoyed one of the greatest years of my life living as a fresher in Beit, I'm sure that the same will apply to all of you guys joining us this year as the one thing that all Beitlings quickly learn is how to not only work hard but how to party hard aswell!!! As an avid sportsman who regularly competes for the uni I will this year be heavily involved in the running of the Beit football team. As reigning inter-hall champions, I hope that you will join the side each and every Sunday afternoon, whether it be in a playing or supporting capacity. Prepare for the time of your lives!!! Alan Soltani W4 (409) Hey guys, I'm Alan, a third year physicist. Welcome to Beit! You're about to have the best year of your lives and we're here to help you (to a point) do that. If you're living on W4 then the experience will be even better because.... I'm on your corridor! I've lived in London all my life and it's far better than any other city. It's true, trust me. I've been to all of the other ones. In my spare time, I'm Club Captain of the IC Dodgeball Club (yes, it's just like the film) and play football for IC too. Note, you'll hear me going on about dodgeball a lot, feel free to take the mick, I've heard it all before! Also, I play the drums in my own band and a few IC things. And if I'm not doing any of the above things I'll likely be in the union having a drink! Looking forward to meeting you!
