Members of the Buxton Branch of the American Begonia Society enjoy the following activities:
- Monthly programs on diverse topics, such as begonia cultivation, traditional and innovative propagation methods, international begonia conservation efforts, techniques for handling begonia pests, and terrarium culture.
- Opportunities to purchase member-grown healthy begonia cultivars and species.
- Viewing the gorgeous begonia plants that members bring to meetings.
- Occasional raffles of special plants, Wardian cases, or terrarium containers.
- Workshops on grooming begonias for competitve shows.
- Entering plants in our annual juried competition, at Tower Hill.
- Putting on an annual springtime sale in concert with other plant societies.
- Annual joint meeting with the Gesneriad Society.
- Member-hosted parties, such as summer picnics and a holiday party.
- In years past we ran a booth at the Mass.
Horticultural Society's Spring Flower Show. Our booth has won many awards,
and members have also won awards for independently submitted plants. We
hope that the Society is able to revive this tradition in 2010!
