``` as i walked into the liquor store, i was suddenly aware of my appearance. i had just run out of the house, no comb to my hair, an earlier-in-the-morning walk that had smeared my hastily applied mascara from this morning. i tugged at my skull and cross-boned tee i was wearing (the same one my youngest son had picked out for me from the target) making sure that it covered my body. why didn't i at least check myself in the mirror before leaving, i chastised myself. oh well... in the liquor store, i approached the counter, two boxes of wine (that's right reader...i said 'boxes'!) under each arm making sure to place them steadily upon the counter. a tall, steady clerk, not more than 12 - ok 24 - eyed me from behind the counter. as he rung up the $29.66 sale i reached into the pocket of my baggy shorts to extract my ID and credit card. i was traveling light this afternoon...i didn't want to be weighed down by a purse. i handed him my credit card. "can i see some ID?" he asked. conscious of the effects of my morning coffee, i steadied my hand as to not let him see my coffee shakes. i handed him the small, rectangular sliver of plastic. "is that a fake?" he asked me. "what... no?" i answered quizzically, looking down at the shiny surface, studying it trying to understand what he was asking. "were you really born in '66?" he continued. "yeah...?" "wow...i was totally wrong", he exclaimed. confused but suddenly aware that this young man was giving me a compliment, i blushed and quickly offered a "thank you...i guess...".

The Kitchen. All nice appliances, including a separate under counter ice maker, wine cooler, and other neat stuff. Takes some getting use to figure out the microwave without a keypad!
