The Robinson Film Center, in partnership with Shreveport Green and Shreveport Public Assembly and Recreation (SPAR), is pleased to present “Movies & Moonbeams”, an outdoor cinema experience showcasing family-friendly films in Shreveport’s public parks. “Movies & Moonbeams” will kick off in Betty Virginia Park on Sunday, November 13 at 6:30 P.M., with a screening of a blockbuster family film directed by Steven Spielberg, says Clare France. “Movies & Moonbeams” events, which will be held once a month during fair weather, will present films on a 27’ X 16’ inflatable screen with theater-quality projection and sound. When inflated, the system stands almost four stories tall, says Chris Jay. Gates (believe it or not, Betty Virginia recently gave birth to fences and gates) will open at 5:30 P.M., the film will begin promptly at 6:30 P.M. Admission to “Movies & Moonbeams” is 50 cents, with boxed-lunch style meals, concessions from Marble Slab Creamery and the Hot Dog Man, as well as candy and popcorn available for purchase at the screening. While a limited amount of reserve seating will be available (at a cost of $3 per seat, $20 per table with four seats), the public is encouraged to bring chairs and/or blankets to create their own comfortable spot on the park lawn. Bear Creek Lake has three lakes... one for fishing, one for water skiers, and this one... this one has paddle boats and kayaks you can rent, and ive seen windsurfers there too... we bring our own inflatable kayak and blow it up right in the parking lot. They have great hiking trails, but stop by the guest center and plan your route first! ( I recommend owl trail, it follows bear creek ) There are stables, archery, and camping. I got the year pass for $40 but if you are just visiting, id say get a day pass. There is also a swim beach but its really cold, and a small concession stand. You can also bring your ice chest with food and beverages of your choice!
