the 2012 Bedford Clanger

28 (or 17) Miles around Bedford

Back by popular demand! The third "Bedford Clanger" mixed terrain trail race will take place on Saturday 7th April 2012For 2012 we have a new route keeping the best of the previous years and replacing some of the less popular road sections with more scenic paths.

This is a challenging ultra-distance trail running event. You will follow written route instructions, explore little known footpaths and discover lots of beautiful countryside. A 17 mile mini course is also available. We will do our best to accommodate walkers but there is an overall time limit of approximately 8 hours.

All proceeds will be passed on to the Sue Ryder St John’s Hospice.

Sue Ryder - St John's Hospice offers specialist short-term palliative care for patients with life-limiting illnesses including Cancer, Motor Neurone Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, heart, liver and lung failure. An active day treatment centre offers a variety of treatments including blood transfusions, complex drug treatments and outpatient specialist palliative care consultant appointments. A specialist Lymphoedema Service provides complex Lymphoedema treatment to both inpatient and outpatients as well as home visits.

The course is not suitable for wheelchairs, prams and pushchairs. There will be check points with water and limited refreshments on the course but competitors should plan to be largely self sufficient. A Trail Running Association permit has been applied for and the event will be held under UK Athletics rules.

I look forward to seeing you at the Clanger and would like to thank you in advance for your support.
