Brother Roger Perkins

Reverend Roger David Perkins was born on August 24, 1957 in Louisville, Kentucky to Reverend Ira Samued Perkins and Bettey Jean (Williams) Perkins. Brother Ira was a minister and missionary to Brazil from 1961 to 1969, so much of Brother Roger's childhood was spent in South America. In 1975 Brother Roger graduated from Rosemark Academy in Rosemark, Tennessee. A year later on August 6, 1977 he married Pamela Ann Gay of Munford, Tennessee. Before becoming a preacher Brother Roger got a Batchelor's of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from Christian Brothers University in Memphis, TN in 1979. Brother Roger worked for the Tennessee Department of Transportation from 1979 to 1980. On November 7, 1980 he and Pam had their first child, Roger David Perkins II. From 1980 until 1983m Brother Roger worked for the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers. Then on December28, 1983 he and Pam welcomed their daughter, Sunny Gay Perkins, into the world. Brother Roger continued to work as an engineer for Cogan Construction, 1983-1984, and IGC Engineering, 1984-1986. Brother Roger then attended Seminary and graduated from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, Master of Divinity in 1989. He was pastor of First Baptist Church in Peterman, Al from 1989 until 1991. He then became pastor of Lockler Memorial Baptist Church in 1991 where he remains a pastor today. On August 26, 2000 Brother Roger and Pam welcomed Christy Majors into the family as David's wife. David and Christy's first son, Austin David Perkins, was born on February 3, 2003 and they just welcomed Noah Allen Perkins home on February 25, 2008. Brother Roger and Pam's daughter, Sunny, married Kenneth Ray Harrison on November 28, 2003. |
