ANIME:    Jyu-Oh-Sei

Wow! What can I say about this anime except that it blew me away! Of course, yours truly is a sucker for animes with slashy undertones and a condesable plot. Jyu-Oh-Sei is, in my opinion, the slashed up lovechild of Banner of the Stars 2 and Geneshaft, but damn do pretty boys make me want to squee. My only complaint-- The woman are shallow representations of their so-called strength and independance.

MANGA: Wild Ones by Kiyo Fujiwara

All right, it could be that Sachi and I have the same birthday (Girl's Day), but I have to say that Wild Ones is one of those Shoujo mangas that seems to it with my feministic view of the world (almost). Then again, LoLo is notoriously feministic. I even hated the end to W Juliet because I felt that the Ito should have felt just fine staying as a tomboy. Though I'm glad to know that Makoto was equally changed by Ito. Anyway, back on topic... The granddaughter of a Yakuza Clan's head falls in love with her bodyguard while trying to keep up a normal relationship at school. We have crime, mystery, romance, angst on the male's part, and a heroine who doesn't make me want to run out of the room screaming.

GAME: Aveyond (PC)

The first time I played Aveyond, I just about died laughing at all the cliches, sterotypes, and WTF moments of plot-bunny-ness. If you read Memory of Ashes and thought my rough draft was bad, then Aveyond's final draft is BAD! Eh, still, for those of us who loved sprite games like Secret of Mana and the older Final Fantasies, Aveyond is a nostalgic interlude to the younger days, of which I am still obnoxiously fond of.

NOVEL: The Host by Stephenie Meyer

So, even though I was much amused by Bella's melodramatic interpretation of the world (and, in this last book, Jacob's sarcastic one) I was actually quite pleased to read from Wanda's persective as a mildly confused, but mostly calm alien invader who falls in love and in danger while trying to placate her consciousness, aka, Mel. The Host was one of those books that left me touched and hopeful at the end, and therefore, it was a worthwhile read. Meyer proves herself an excellent, if still immature, novelist who will continue to dazzle the world with her relatable heroines and dashing heros. Meyer is not one who writes a mary sue for her heroines, but rather a flawed, lovable, and touchable woman who resembles all the ideals I strive to create in my writing. Way to go, Ms. Meyer!
