Bearna Basketball welcomes GAA proposal.

Bearna Basketball club welcomes the decision taken by Bearna Co-Op last week to sell its lands at Clochscoilte to Bearna GAA. The Basketball Club had met with the GAA prior to the Co-Op Special General Meeting, where the GAA outlined its proposal which includes a full size basketball court and changing rooms.

 The GAA gave Bearna Basketball a guarantee that the Club will have first call on the court and the Basketball Club hope this will help the Club develop further, as presently with 270 members most of its funding is spent on court hire in Galway City.

Like the GAA the Basketball Club sees that having a “home venue” as essential for the development of both clubs.

The Basketball in giving their full support to the project will be co-operating with the GAA in fund raising and hope that their dream of a “home venue” will finally be realised in the very near future.
