IV Evaporative Cooling System
IV Evaporative Cooling System
The IV Evaporative cooling system (IVECS) was developed to prevent IV fluids from reaching excessively hot and potentially dangerous temperatures. Studies have shown that excessively hot IV fluids can cause tissue damage and hemolysis. Hot fluids are also counterproductive when treating heat casualties. When operating in a desert or any low humidity hot environment this becomes a very real concern. Recent tests have shown the IVECS to maintain fluids at safe temperatures for up to 18 hours in extreme heat without any additional cooling assistance. The IVECS provides a cost effective reusable and simple means of increasing the quality of patient care provided in the pre-hospital or combat environment. To Use: - Fully submerge the IVECS in water for approx. 15 minutes, or until all cooling chambers are fully expanded wtih the polymer gel (hot water speeds the hydration process). - Place one 1000ml or two 500 ml bags inside the IVECS and seal the top velcro strips. - Hang the IVECS in a well ventilated area. - Chambers should stay filled for up to 2 days, re-soak or pour water over the IVECS as needed to ensure it provides maximum cooling for your IV fluids. *The IVECS can also be attached to any Tactical Vest, Backpack or Body Armor equipped to accept MOLLE pouches and accessories. 12"L x 7"W x 0.5"H, 9oz.
