We are a rescue group based out of Victoria, BC. We mainly rescue poodles and poodle-mixes, but will never say no to saving other small breed dogs in need!
Currently we are working with rescue groups in Los Angeles, California. These rescues pull the dogs out of high kill shelters where they are scheduled to be euthanized, and send them to us so we can find homes for them.
The situation in Southern California is very different than it is here in BC. The animal shelters are so overcrowded there, that dogs get euthanized by the hundreds daily! That includes small breeds as well as puppies. All of the dogs on our website were rescued with days, sometimes just hours to spare before they would have been euthanised.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b-2poE0Tvxk This YouTube video basically explains why we rescue dogs from Los Angeles. This is not a graphic video, but it gives a very good idea of what the animal shelter system is like in LA and just how many dogs are there, desperately needing to get out. This video was made by a well known rescue group, and we work with some of these people to get the dogs out of the shelter and to Victoria. This is San Bernardino shelter, the one we rescue most of our dogs from. Please take the time to watch this video, and pass it on to your friends to help us raise awareness for our cause of saving LA dogs from euthanasia by bringing them to Victoria to find loving forever homes! We also help local shelter dogs in need, and will occasionally take owner surrenders on a case to case basis.
We pay for all of the travel, vetting and other expenses. After medical and personality assessments of the dogs, we adopt them out to loving homes, preferably on Vancouver Island.
To adopt one of our dogs, one must fill out and submit an adoption application and we also require a home visit. You must also sign an adoption contract if you wish to adopt a dog from us. An adoption fee is required for all dogs adopted from our rescue. This fee doesn't cover the cost of transport/boarding/vetting/medical/health certificates/crates/food/leashes etc, but is required so we can continue to save dogs. All of our funds go directly into the care of our dogs. We also appreciate any donations, and this enables us to save more dogs that require extra medical care.

We would like to thank Pacific Coastal Airlines, who has kindly offered to fly our rescue dogs from Vancouver to Victoria at no charge
