If your team has an awning, it would be beneficial to bring it.  The park is beautiful but it doesn't offer much shade.  The park does have a full concession and will be open throughout the tournament.

The two semi final games today will have Abbotsford playing Richmond and Cloverdale playing Ladner.  Thank you to all the teams and congratulations to the four teams on reaching day three of the tournament.  Good Luck!

Ready, Set, Go!

Here are the activities for the skills competition.  It will be great fun and a super way to kick of our Provincial Tournament!

Straight Line Relay

Four players line up 30-40 feet apart.  Start at one end, throwing to the next and next until the ball goes to the end and comes back to the start.  Go through twice.  Any bad throw or dropped ball must be returned to the point of the drop before continuing on.

This is a timed event with two teams going at once.  The two best times are in the final.

Around the Horn

Four players required.  Ball is set behind a squatted catcher.  On “Go”, the player retrieves the ball and throws to third, who throws to second who throws to first and back to the catcher.  Twice around the horn with every player (other than the catcher on the INITIAL throw) having to touch their base with ball in hand before making the next throw.  Top two times come back and do it again in a final.

Relay Race

Four players and one coach required. Four players and a coach start at home plate, a player runs the bases and hands a ball off to the next team mate in line.  This is a timed event and players must touch all bases.

Top two times have a ‘dragon race’ to determine winner.  One team starts at home plate and the other at second base for the final.

Home Run Derby

One player per team.  Five fair balls hit to each player.  Each team supplies their own pitcher (probably their coach) - just like the MLB home run derby.
