The Arts and Culture community in the Province of British Columbia has been devastated by the withdrawal of gaming funds and the slashing of support for the BC Arts Council.  Gaming funds are not from tax revenue, they are a small percentage of the profits of gaming revenue from lotteries and casinos.

The British Columbia Arts Council is an independent agency established by the Province of British Columbia to support arts and culture in British Columbia and to provide a process for managing funds for British Columbia arts and culture.

Symphony Orchestra Academy of the Pacific - SOAP
SOAP offers a unique program which prepares advanced students and young professionals for a career in music performance and in obtaining a position in a professional orchestra. Canada Council for the Arts
The Canada Council for the Arts was created as a national arm's-length agency by an Act of Parliament in 1957. Under the terms of the Canada Council Act, the object of the Council is "to foster and promote the study and enjoyment of, and the production of works in, the arts." To fulfill this mandate, the Council offers a broad range of grants and services to professional Canadian artists and arts organizations in dance, interdisciplinary work and performance art, media arts, music, theatre, visual arts and writing and publishing.
