Welcome to 54 Taft Brook rd. !

Welcome to 54 Taft Brook rd..in the winter....and the summer...

Nestled in scenic East Dover, 54 Taft Brook road offers ultimate privacy, while affording accessibility to the Mount Snow Region, Wilmington, Brattleboro and the West River Valley. The Deerfield Valley offers year round outdoor recreation with its ski mountains, golf courses, lakes and hiking trails and it is the closest big mountain skiing to the major metropolitan areas. This 4 bedroom property sits on 10 quiet acres of woodlands, wooded pathways and open fields. The three stall horse barn and 3 1/2 acres of pasture land make the house idea for horse lovers of all ages, or in the winter time, the access to a vast network of snowmobile trails, and long sledding hill allow for all the winter activities.

Enjoy an afternoon reading on the covered porch.

..or relaxing on the back deck or in the backyard among the easy care landscaping and summer breezes.

From forsythia and lilacs in the spring, to peony, iris and phlox in the summer, the gardens and fields of wildflowers supply you with cut flowers from April to October.

High on the hill is a comfy spot for the rustic fire pit in the evenings....

...with a view that probably hasn't changed much in the past 200 years (except for the clearing and the barn of course). This pristine view is spectacular in the fall when the foliage is ablaze with color. In the winter, the long hill offers hours of sledding fun!

You never know when random wildlife will walk through the property. Deer, turkeys, and an occasional  fox scamper through the fields and birds are evident throughout the seasons. (sorry about the quality of the photo...I took it through the back door..)

The barn affords storage for snow mobiles, boats, vehicles,  or other large storage needs. We usually use the garden shed for snow shoes, skis and snowboards in the winter.

The lupine filled driveway is shared with my other house which is a getaway cottage. I will not be selling the cottage because I do want to keep a connection to the Deerfield Valley where I taught for 22 years. The houses are very private from one another, however.

Downstairs:

Inside, 54 Taft Brook offers a large, updated kitchen that invites your friends and family to gather for the quintessential Thanksgiving feast for five or fifteen. The red oak hardwood floors in the downstairs are the real deal! The center chimney colonial offers quality construction throughout.

The open kitchen and dining area add a warm sense of community to your dinner gatherings. The dining area leads out to the back porch through French doors for your summer gatherings.

The Mudroom off the kitchen allows folks to kick off and store their street shoes before coming in. Both the washer and dryer are recent updates.

54 Taft Brook is a great place to bring up your kids and dogs. There is no nearby traffic and pets have acres to roam.

The half door to the mudroom makes it ideal for you pet to be part of the family, but not always under foot.

In the family room, there are insulated shades and wood paneling which make this room a cozy getaway.

The masonry fireplace in the living room provides a wonderful focal point for family evenings...

or a quiet place to read on a Sunday afternoon....

Bedrooms:

Upstairs there are four ample bedrooms and two full baths to sleep up to ten people in comfort. The master suite offers a large bedroom, 2 closets, a full bath and a linen closet.

With fresh paint and new carpeting upstairs, the house is in turn-key condition.

So whether you are an equestrian family, a winter sports family, or just looking to live in one of the most relaxing environments around, 54 Taft Brook road is  a jewel located conveniently to all of New England and New York. Come see for yourself.

3 stalls and more ample storage in the barn.

Great foliage in the fall
