INTRODUCTION:
Help! Igata Notalent has just applied to the best art institute in the world, the NOrweigan World Art academY, (NOWAY). The problem is that Igata has spent her art classes doodling pictures of squirrels in her notebook instead of listening to the art teacher.
To get into the academy, Igata must pass a test about the elements of art. If Igata fails to get into this school, she will be reduced to drawing water from a well for a living. You must help Igata!
TASK:
As a true and dear friend of Igata, you have agreed to assist her in studying for the Elements of Art test that she will be taking. You will be defining, explaining the importance, and showing examples of the different elements of art to Igata.
Each of the elements of art; line, color, texture, space, form, and shape, will be presented to Igata in the form of a one page report, and two examples of the use of the element described.
Warning! Because art is so many different things to so many different people, different terms, added terms, and different definitions may be used for the elements of art. The six elements of art listed above are by no means the only things that make art, art. They are a good sampling of the different aspects that people use to look at art. You are to use your own discretion when deciding which terms and examples to use. You may have to combine terms or develop your own. If you have any doubts or questions, ask your instructor for clarification.
PROCESS:
Two of the four members of the group will select two different elements of art, the third member will select one element of art and write an introduction to the presentation, and the fourth member will select one element of art and write a conclusion to the presentation.
You will:
1. Select the elements you wish to describe.
2. Read about that element on the websites provided.
3. Write a brief introduction of your element.
4. Give a definition of your element; you must use your own words.
5. Describe different characteristics of your element.
- Describe how that element is used in different ways.
- Show two good examples of the use of your element, one done by a professional artist and one done by you.
The introduction must describe the elements and show how they work together to create art, and the conclusion must tie all elements together by reviewing each element and its importance to the overall “picture” of art creation. All information should be put together into either a powerpoint or photostory presentation. This will be presented to the class for final evaluation.
