This website is a guide for anyone, inside or outisde the BBC, who wants to create or edit an artist page at bbc.co.uk/music.

The BBC aims to have a page for every artist it plays either on radio or TV. At their best these pages have links to all BBC content about an artist, links to the shows that play an artist the most, biographies from Wikipedia, album reviews, photos, links and discographies.

These pages are linked to from tracklists, playlist pages and the Top 40.

The basic information about artists. i.e, name, links, and discogrpahies all come from MusicBrainz, an open content music database that anyone can add to or edit. Without an entry in MusicBrainz no BBC artist page can exist. (The bbc.co.uk/music FAQ has more about MusicBrainz.)

This means that anyone who works with an artist (i.e. labels, pluggers and PRs) can create new BBC artist pages and add information to existing ones simply by editing MusicBrainz.
