Jervis Bay cruise in retrospect...

All in all a fairly good day was had last sunday, tho somewhat hampered by the bad weather, which resulted in the markets being cancelled and a few folks having second thoughts about turning up... can't blame em really! Laughing

However we still had 4 Kombi's turn up, Me with Buttercup, the yellow '76 Trakka, Paul "pod" with Fred the fudgebus, the brown/cream '82 aircooled Caravelle, Royce (from
Kombi Club) with his son and his parents May and Les in the orange '73 Swagman camper, and Wade with his hot '72 Dormobile rat. The best was made of the situation however by exchanging friendly Kombi banter over coffee and yummy cakes at the Husky Bakery after comparing buses further and admiring Wades kadrons... Cool

Unfortunately Wade had to leave before the BBQ, however we continued all the same after stopping (for quite a long time) to admire a very beautifully restored 1919 Dodge delivery van belonging to the owner of the bakery, who proudly yacked to us about it for some time.

There was a slightly shaky moment when Buttercup refused to start... turns out that the fridge had drained the battery when I had it running on 12V, dammit! But after zapping her into life with Paul's jumpstarter pack, we then croozed over to greenfields and set up for the, then Paul and I commenced burning the snags onto the one good hotplate in the rain... not too much of a worry but it would have been more enjoyable with nice sunshine and not as much of a stiff breeze. Confused It got sunny and nice a few times throughout the day... but the clouds just kept coming back over. Sad

Royce and his gang headed back after lunch and then Paul and I took the scenic route round the end of Vincentia then headed out again to Murrays Beach. Then came the entry fee sign to Booderee NP... how long has that been there??? Shocked It was decided that $10 to spend at most the next hour in the park was not really justifiable considering there were only two of us left and the weather now stunk again, so we turned back around and headed out to the village of Hyams Beach, before heading back into Huskisson to by souveniers. This brought us to the Lady Denman Museum, where Paul bought a personalised boomerang for the missus and I bought a 1302 Superbug... in minature of course! Laughing Paul bought a couple too for the Flat Four club meeting raffle heheheh Laughing

Despite the rain, a pretty good day was had nonetheless, and I thank those who came for making it a pleasant and enjoyable day, which hopefully will pave the way for further sojournes in the near future. Cool

More pics of the day can be seen in this thread on the forum...

Jervis Bay cruise update

I am posting here the itinerary for the Jervis Bay cruise this weekend on Sunday the 10th... I will distribute maps and such on the day for those who need them. :)

10:00- meet at Log Cabin truckstop on Princes Hwy, Tomerong... get petrol etc...

10:15- leave loggy to arrive at Whitesands Park, Huskisson at around 10:30 to mingle with the locals and enjoy the markets, local brew, socialising, pool, view etc.

12:00- begin cruise to greenfields beach, Vincentia then have BBQ snag sangers for lunch.

2:00- depart greenfields for crooze to Murrays Beach, via Hyams Beach village.

4:30- depart Murrays to crooze back to the Log cabin, after which we will go our seperate ways till the next crooze. Cool

In the event that it rains, the event will still be going ahead for those who show... might just have to alter a few plans to suit. Never let it be said that rain would get in the way of a bunch of hardened Kombi pilots! Laughing

thus far we have at least 8 Kombi's showing and a lot more than 8 people... so should be a fun day and an impressive convoy!

As we are having a BBQ, bring a plate hehehe.

Drinks are BYO of choice unless ya like cordial hehehe... of which there will be an abundance in teh fridge.

Will be looking forward to seeing everybody on Sunday!... if you get lost on the way or would otherwise like to discuss anything before the crooze, feel free to ring me on 0412723469. :)

Cheers!

Kieran

Server back online

The Baywindow Mafia forum is now back online again finally... there still appears to be a few glitches, however these are only momentary, and nothing major... prolly just teething issues at the server. I thank all members for their patience during the downtime and am glad to see that our regulars have come back again, and that some of our lesser known members have returned. We even have a few new members, who I am sure will be made to feel welcome! A big thank you must go to Recycle at LoveMyBus for offering to set up a forum  within LMB to accomodate us during our destitution... fortunately our forum came back later that day, but thanks anyway mate! :)

Server outage...

As you may have noticed, phpbbff Server 3 has been down for a number of days for maintenance. Going on 3 days now... the length of the outage is a little less than satisfactory, howerver unfortunately there is little to be done about it. :( Tis the price we pay for having a free service provided to us which in turn is provided free to our members. :)

The upshot is that at least unlike most other  free anything providers, EDK do us the courtesy of keeping us well informed about all outages, and update us regularly on there progress.... now that is what I call service.

Hopefully the server shall be back up in short order tho and will be spick and span and bug free when it returns!

Kieran.
