Share the Holiday Spirit 2009

Dear Bay View Students and Families:

Bay View School’s annual holiday service project, “Share the Holiday Spirit”, begins Dec 1st and concludes Dec. 14th.  This very worthwhile program is our opportunity as a school community to reach out and assist some needy families within our school district. The program is easy. Just follow these simple steps and together we will make this holiday season brighter for many families.

1. Money Donation:  Each student is asked to donate $1.00.  Please bring your donation to the collection box at the Family Involvement Coordinator’s desk.

2. Grocery Item Donation:  Each grade level has been assigned a grocery-type item category.  Please refer to the list below.  Students are asked to bring in these items to the collection box in their classroom.

3. Gifts:  Finally, each grade level has been assigned their own “adopted” family to assist.  Specific family member’s needs have been identified and gift tags hung on a “giving tree” in the hall outside each grade level.  Sixth, seventh, and eighth grade trees are in the cafeteria. Students are asked to choose a tag from the tree, sign their name next to that item on the list, purchase the gift, and then return the wrapped gift to their classroom collection box.  Please be sure to attach the tag to the wrapped gift.  We ask that students in grades K-2nd please have an adult with them when selecting their tag.  If you are unable to come to school to assist your child and would like to participate, please complete and return this form. We will pick a tag and send it home with your child. Students in grades 3rd-8th may select a tag without an adult present, but should first consult their parents.

At the conclusion of this program, all of these items are made into gift baskets for each family.  Through this project, not only do those in need receive assistance, but our students experience the joy of giving.  Thank you for your willingness to “share in the holiday spirit”.
