Practice Tips

When you don't want to play, listen ....

Listening to your Suzuki CDs IS practice.

For a change Youtube is a great resource for looking at and hearing kids playing Suzuki tunes. Some play better than others, but it is always good to get your child to listen critically and see what they think is wrong as well as to admire.

Practice charts

Lots of practising is about repetition and review, so try to use different methods to encourage your children to practice.

Try to practice daily - a sticker chart is a great thing for younger children. At Christmas time a chocolate advent calender can provide a great inducement.

To download these handy calendars and use them for stickers for daily practice just right click on the relevant month and dowload the picture to your machine, and then print it out.

Reviewing Book 1 ?

A Review chart is very useful - pick a period of time (such as four weeks) and ensure that every piece is played through at least once a week

This is a useful chart for those practicing and reviewing Book 1.
