Listening to recordings, attending concerts and
generally finding out about the music you are playing is all crucial to
your playing. Pupils should be listening to recordings of the music
they are playing every day. Some will find that having the CDs in the
car is a good place, others will find that putting all the music on an
iPod so that it can be listened to quietly while walking or travelling.
For others, an iPod or CD player playing last thing at night works well.
Early
on the children will be listening to their Suzuki recordings only;
later, as the repertoire broadens out, it is important to find good
recordings of the pieces that are to be played. You tube is a wonderful
resource - you can find magnificent renditions of the pieces to be
played, and equally you can find some that are laughably bad. We will
put links to both - use your ears and discretion to decide which videos
are worth playing often, and which can be used to, perhaps, demonstrate
something less good.
These pages is going to be used to give links
and pointers to recordings of the music the children in the three
orchestras should be listening to.
Suzuki recordings can be purchased from most London Music shops, or ordered online.
