You may reserve edit bays on your own, during regular BATV hours, to work on the Premiere, between May 20-June 12 – call to make a reservation, no more than two students per edit room, see a staff person for access to the youth club hard drives. I will check the drives occasionally, and put together all the footage a week before the Premiere date! So you won’t see me from May 20-June 12 – have a good rest of the school year!

Billerica Access Television is expanding its Youth Video Club groups! The new groups will meet up on Mondays, during the following hours:

4:15pm-5pm --- 2nd-3rd grade students
5pm-6pm --- 4th-6th grade students
6pm-7pm --- 7th-9th grade students

We will focus on introductory media exercises, creative composition, studio television shoots - leading up to a video premiere of our work in the Spring. Students may join at any time, and are welcome to sit-in with one of the clubs before deciding whether or not to become a BATV member.

The groups will begin meeting up on Monday, Feb. 8th.

Youth Video Clubs start meeting back up this week!

Tuesday 4pm-5pm: Group 1 --- 4th, 5th, 6th graders

Wednesday 4pm-5pm: Group 3 --- 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th graders
Wednesday 5pm-6pm: Group 4 --- 4th, 5th, 6th graders

PREMIERE

    The premiere for our Sept.-Dec. 2009 Youth Video Club projects, will be Thurs. Dec. 17, at 7pm, at our 430 Boston Road facilities.

    This is the same night as our BATV Holiday Gathering for members, so feel free to come on by at 5:30pm to grab some food, and stick around for the screening of our collective video work.

    Want to be involved with our yearly Halloween extravaganza? Volunteers are needed in two areas:
        -Performers (zombies/vampires/ghouls/etc.)
        -Production team (working with me to shoot the video capturing all the excitement of the evening!)

New Youth Video Club meeting times!

I'm proud to announce the continuation and expansion of BATV's weekly youth club meet-ups. Throughout the school year students in 5th-12th grade are invited to take part in small groups focusing on explorative camera, editing, scripting and performance exercises - leading into larger projects concerned with narrative, documentary, and animated video. The following times have been scheduled for the different age groups, and students are welcome to join at any time throughout the year:

Tuesdays 4-5pm: 5th-6th grade group 1 (this group will mostly contain students continuing-on from last year's Dutile Enrichment program, but anyone within this age-frame is welcome to attend!)
Tuesdays 5-6pm: 6th-8th grade group

Wednesdays 4-5pm: 9th-12th grade group
Wednesdays 5-6pm: 5th-6th grade group 2 (this group will mostly contain students continuing-on from our summer program, as well as last year's Parker Enrichment program, but anyone within this age-frame is welcome to attend!)

There would be an additional one hour open-work period from 6-7pm on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and 2-3pm on Sundays, which wouldn't be a formal meeting or class, but rather, a time blocked out where any youth member, from any of the age groups 5th-12th grade, could come to work on projects, if they wanted, with the understanding that I would be there to assist and/or critique. The projects could be carry-overs from what we happened to do that week in our meet-ups, or video projects for school, or even if they just wanted to familiarize themselves with certain equipment.

Group meet-ups will begin the week of September 21st, and, again, students are welcome and encouraged to join at any time throughout the year. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at 978-663-2284

*All age groups from the BATV Youth Video Club are having their Video Premiere at the studios on Mon. June 22nd, starting at 5:15pm. Stay tuned for more details!
*Our last meeting for the 2008/2009 school year will be Tues. June 23rd. The clubs will start back up again at the beginning of the 2009/2010 school year.
