THE BATTLESTAR PROMETHEUS

MARINE COMPLIMENT: The Prometheus carries a compliment of 1000 Colonial Marines ( the 7th Colonial Marine Expeiditionary Regiment) under the command of LT. COL. Stewart Kelly who reports to the X.O. The Marines also utilize 50 Landram Mark II ground assault vehicles.

 The NOVA CLASS Battlestar is a new and experimental class of ship. Intended to be an upgrade from the Mercurary class, Nova class Battlestars are fleet command ships. Nominally under the command of a Commander, they also serve as the flag ship for an Admiral. One thrid larger than a Mercury class Battlestar (to which the Pegasus belongs) they were designed to be used as fleet command and control ships while also serving as a one stop assault vehicle, capable of taking on two to four other capital class ships, or assaulting a major ground target, by itself. They are highly automated and carry the latest state of the art defenses against electronic warfare including Electro Magnetic Pulse fields capable of disabling enemy electronics and a V.I., or Virtual Intelligence, computer core capable of adapting to any threat while not violating the laws against artificial intelligence.

The Prometheus was originally intended to be the new fleet command vessel, however it was diverted to the Outreach Program on Presidential orders when it was decided that it was the only ship that could possibly endure the extended time away from any Colonial Fleet support, projected by fleet analysts. By that point, Commander Turner had already been appointed as Commanding Officer of the ship.

The Nova Class can also manufacture all the replacement parts needed for Raptors, Vipers and Scimitar Bombers, as well the frame and outer skin of these ships. This makes her completely self-sufficient in regards to fighter repair and production. They also have advanced food and water reclamation and food growth facilities making it able to be self sufficient for seven years before having to change out it's supply.

KEY AREAS:

C.I.C. ( Combat Information Center): Control Bridge of the ship. All ships functions are dictated from this area.

S.C.C. (Strategic Command Center): Just aft of the C.I.C., the S.C.C. is where the flag officer can direct large scale combat actions while not interfering in the tactical decisions of the ship commander.

SHIPS HOSPITAL: The Prometheus has a hospital with four wards that is capable of doing anything a normal state of the art hospital could do.

LOBO NEGRO SPACE STATION

CLASS: OLYMPUS

CREW COMPLIMENT: (Normal) 7,511 officers and crewmen. (Post Cylon attack) 974.

COMMANDING OFFICER- Brigadier General John Connors

AIR WING: Seven squadrons of Viper Mark 7’s and one squadron of experimental Viper Mark 8's

MARINE COMPLIMENT: The LOBO NEGRO station normally carries a compliment of 1500 Colonial Marines, however the bulk of her crew was on annual shore leave when the Cylons attacked. As a result, only 200 hundred of her Marines survived the attack.

JUMP RANGE: 60 Stellar Units (S.U.)

CONSUMABLES: Enough food, fuel and water to last for ten years.

 The Lobo Negro is a mobile space station capable of limited FTL jumps. She was designed this way so that she could serve as a mobile shipyard and refit facility. After ten years of such duty she was reassigned to be the site of secret experiments in new ship technology.

The station was officially listed as retired in the Colonial Defense database, which led to it being overlooked by the Cylons during their infiltration. It was relocated at irregular intervals to keep it from being located by possible Cylon infiltration, a strategy that worked.

It is now the only colonial facility capable of repairing and building new ships.

KEY AREAS:

DRY DOCKS- The station can isolate sections of the outer hull of any ship for work in atmospheric conditions. This facilitates repairs for extreme damage. She can also build new ships from NOVA class down to Vipers.

 

 THE GUNSTAR VIGILANT

CLASS: GUARDIAN

The Guradian Class, in simple terms, is a sucker punch ship. They have an ECM suite that essentially renders her invisible to Dradis. Not a cloaking device because the ship can still be seen with the naked eye. It does have the Stealth capabilities of the Stealth Star though. They are loaded with very few point defense weapons which means she has to run when attacked, but she does have numerous long range missiles with high yield payloads. They will appear in system with their ECM suite activated, target a ship and hit it with missiles giving the enemy little to no chance to defend against it. They also have a spy suite aboard to monitor signals from the enemy or observe distant targets. 

 

 

THE GUNSTAR SENTINEL (DESTROYED AT THE BATTLE OF THE VEIL)

 

CLASS: TITAN

COMMANDING OFFICER- Commander Nigel Alexander

CREW COMPLIMENT: 600 crew, 500 Marines (One Marine Battalion)

FIGHTER COMPLIMENT: 12 Vipers, Raptors or Scimitar Bombers

GROUND VEHICLE COMPLIMENT: Like the Prometheus, the Sentinel carries Landram Mark II Ground Assault Vehicles.

JUMP RANGE: 90 Stellar Units (SU)

CONSUMABLES: Two Years

These are the main escorts of the fleet. They have excellent defense batteries set up for defending against fighter attack. They are ment to perform escort and scouting duties when not in combat, and in combat they can provide extra cover, or run enemy formations and blockades with their powerful engines. Once past an enemy blockade, they can either attach to other ships or land and deliver the 500 marines that it carries aboard. They also have a small flight pod that descends from the center of the ship. In space the flight pod can deploy 12 small ships (i.e. Vipers or Raptors) or 3 Shuttles. On the ground, the flight pod lowers until it reaches the ground and this is where deploying Marines debark the ship.

 

TERRAN ALLIANCE CONQUEROR CLASS BATTLECRUISER

 

CLASS: CONQUEROR


CREW COMPLIMENT:  1,715 officers and crewmen


JUMP RANGE: 70 Stellar Units (S.U.)

The Kraken is a typical Conqueror class battle cruiser. Her armaments, size and engines are comparable to one of the twelve original Battlestars. These ships are the ships of the line for the Terran Alliance. They project the power of Sae’tzar and the Conclave across the seventeen worlds of the Alliance and beyond. Citizens of the Alliance have come to fear these ships because when Sae’tzar decides to crack down on his citizens, it is these ships that are the business end of his commands.

TERRAN ALLIANCE VENATOR CLASS DESTROYER

CLASS: VENATOR


CREW COMPLIMENT:  721 officers and crewmen


JUMP RANGE: 50 Stellar Units (S.U.)


CONSUMABLES: Enough food, fuel and water to last for three years.


The Venator Class Destroyer serves primarily as an escort ship for their larger Conqueror class brethren.  Their primary function is to screen an attack force and help defend against enemy fighters. Outside of the fleet they are also used as patrol vessels to police the space lanes between Alliance worlds because of their superior sublight speed and maneuverability. It is rumored that two Venator class ships have recently defected to the Free Worlds League, a resistance group within the Alliance, but Alliance High Command continues to deny it.

 FIGHTERS

COLONIAL VIPER MARK VII

CLASS: VIPER (MARK 7)


CREW: ONE PILOT


WEAPONS: 2 PIORI CLASS AUTOCANNONS


The Viper Mark 7 is the latest in a long series of sucessful Space Superiority fighters. Designed and manufactured by G.L.L. Defense Industries Inc. on Tauron, they are the fastest and most maneuverable fighter ever developed by humans. With the Cylon War fresh in the minds of the Admiralty, they asked for a fighter that could conceivablly out perform a Cylon counterpart and while they are satisfied with the Mark 7, rumors abound that the Mark 8 is already in the planning stages.

The Vipers on the Prometheus have been divided into two squadrons: the 101st (ACES) and the 54th (KNIGHTS). Each squadron is composed of four Wings (Usually commanded by a Captain or Lieutenant) of 15 Vipers. Each Wing is broken down into three Flights of  five Vipers (usually commanded by a Lt or LT jg).

Each Squadron is commanded by a senior Captain while the entire Prometheus Air Group is commanded by a Major who reports directly to the X.O. or Commander.


COLONIAL RAPTOR

CLASS: RAPTOR


CREW: ONE PILOT, ONE CO-PILOT ONE ELECTRONIC WARFARE OFFICER (EWO)


WEAPONS: 2 INTERCHANGEABLE WEAPONS PODS


JUMP CAPABILITY:  40 Stellar Units


The Raptor is the workhorse of the Colonial Fleet. Used to transport troops and as scouts for the fleet, Raptor pilots are some of the most well known members of the Colonial Armed Forces. Most Capital Ships are assigned at least one Raptor to act as a transport for the ship's commanding officer (thus sparing the use of the much larger shuttles used to ferry large numbers of people back and forth).

There are 24 Raptors assigned to the Prometheus, all under the command of the Air Support Group Commander.

 COLONIAL SCIMITAR CLASS BOMBER

 

CLASS: SCIMITAR

CREW: ONE PILOT, ONE CO-PILOT/BOMBARDIER

WEAPONS: 1 TURRET MOUNTED AUTOCANNON, 2 ANTI-SHIP MISSILES, 10 ARIES SERIES BOMBS


The Scimitar Bomber is a modification of the Raptor design. They work as both ground assault and space assault vehicles. On the ground they are used to bomb targets and provide ground support to land based troops. In space, they are used to attack weapons emplacements on capital ships and destroy enemy fighter facilities (i.e. Landing and Launching bays). Being relatively new to the fleet, the Scimitar Bomber isn't seen by many eyes. Only ten full squadrons have been fielded, the Prometheus Squadron being the latest. Scimitar Bombers have no jump capability since the FTL engines and navigation equipment is sacrificed for the bomb bay and targeting equipment.

There are 18 Scimitar Bombers assigned to the Prometheus that fall under the command of the Air Support Group Commander.


COLONIAL SPECTER CLASS ASSAULT SHUTTLE

CLASS: SPECTER (A.K.A. The Big Spooky)

CREW: ONE PILOT, ONE CO-PILOT, 1 LOAD MASTER, 4 TURRET GUNNERS

WEAPONS: 4 TURRET MOUNTED POINT DEFENSE GUNS, 2 AIR TO AIR MISSILE RACKS (5 MISSILES EACH)

JUMP RANGE: 30 S.U.

The Specter Assault Shuttle is used to deliver troops or vehicles to a target zone in rapid fashion and provide fire support while on the ground. They have a limited jump range which allows them to surprise an enemy. The shuttle is capable of both space and atmospheric flight. The upper deck can hold up to a platoon of Marines while the lower deck can hold another platoon or two Landram Mark II assault vehicles.

ALLIANCE ACCIPITER CLASS FIGHTER


CLASS: ACCIPITER

CREW: ONE PILOT

WEAPONS: 2 SUPERION RAPID FIRE CANNONS

The Terran Alliance Accipiter Class Fighter is the pinicale of Alliance technology. Manufactured on the industrial world of Mars these fighters, while not as fast as the Colonial Viper, are more maneuverable (especially in atmosphere). Their weapons systems are also not as powerful or as accurate as the Colonial weapons systems. Their pilots, however, are highly skilled. So skilled, in fact, that they would be classed as elite in the Colonial Armed Forces. 

 

COLONIAL LANDRAM MARK II CLASS ASSAULT VEHICLE


CLASS: LANDRAM MK II


CREW: ONE DRIVER, ONE COMMANDER, UP TO TEN PASSENGERS


WEAPONS: VARIABLE, DEPENDING ON MISSION PARAMETERS

After the Cylon War, the Colonial Defense Force asked for and recieved a large budget to

upgrade it's forces. However, the land based forces were the last to recieve such funding and so the Landram MK II was a long time in coming. A drastic upgrade from it's predecessor, the MK II is built upon the Omni-Based Weapons Platform (O.B.W.P) . It can be modified from track to wheeled vehicle in less than an hour and can easily swap out turret and weapons pods based upon the needs of the mission. This has the effect of making the MK II a very versatile vehicle, one that any Marine or Colonial Army officer would be proud to have on his or her side.
