We went to the most amazing Dinner Party at a friends last night. There was only 6 of us and it was an amazing production! Candles lit everywhere - Italian Decor' - the Table was all dressed fancy! We had such a good time! This menu was nicely setup on the table to greet us and let us know what was in store for the evening. Everyone brought some Italian Varietal to share and blind taste and vote on with everyone. So that's how the evening started - we opened 6 bottles of wine and blind tasted them and scored them and voted for our favorites (no we didn't drink them all - most had a lot left). We had appetizers at this point. Each course of the dinner was paired with amazing wine or Italian Liqueur (with dessert), and was done so impecaby! I was very impressed. The Beef Stuffed Ribs were awesome - in fact every course was truly a delight! We left very stuffed and very happy :) These friends work in the Wine Industry and love to share their knowledge and wine! We love to share our wines with them, and see what we all like / dislike. The sent us home with tons of leftovers - (as none of us could finish it all!) and several bottles of Homebrew beer that they make! It was a great night!

Reputedly the most beautiful new dining room in New York. I don't agree. It's not bad, but the whole restaurant was one high-class, Disneyfied French chateau. My friend described the ladies' restrooms as "Moroccan bordello." The downstairs (private dining) is like a dungeon cum wine cellar. In the back of the restaurant is the "Winter Garden," which has larger-than-life flowers and weeds (dandelions) sprouting on the walls. In the main dining room, where we were seated, paintins of the Italian countryside anchored the walls in crushed velvet frames. The walls were lined with lavender suede. The four of us were seated at an 8 top round in the center of the dining room. A huge candelabra placed in the center ensured that one could neither see nor communicate with the diner at the opposite end. So this is how it feels to dine a la royalty.
