Native American Decorations : 50's Retro Decor : Round Decorative Mirrors Native American Decorations
Art deco meets Native American. The Telephone Building, Goodland KS. One of the best examples of Art Deco in a large area, the design and decoration of the building was overseen by Mr. Colby Hamilton, an employee of United, who researched every aspect of the Native American symbols used in the interior and exterior design. Telephone poles, carved to simulate Totems are used as beams in the lobby ceiling, and the service desk was a masterpiece of carving and artwork. Heavy oak Mission Style chairs, table and large settee graced the lobby for the comfort of waiting customers. Sweat Lodge
I was bored so I went for a drive - I saw this interesting corn bin just a couple miles north of my house. As I was processing it I started to think how odd it was to have a Native American decoration on a corn bin. Then it occured to me it probably wasn't a bin at all, but a sweat lodge. There are a few in the area as the Native American community integrates with us city-folk. And I wanted to play so I did. :-) Similar posts: zebra room decor decorating a fireplace mantle outdoor christmas decorations deer airplane christmas decorations 1st birthday decorating ideas how to decorate kitchen walls wedding decoration ideas for church |
