Thank you for taking part in this running event on Sunday 19th September. We are counting on you all to enjoy yourselves come rain or shine. Please read the following guidelines and therefore complete the course safely. Please make your way on the day to Basildon Village Hall which opens at 9.15. There will be a Registration desk, where you can register and pay and a Pre-registered Desk (where you can pay if you’ve not already done so via Paypal. You will then be issued with your race bib and pins which are to be attached to the front of your T-shirt. We will accept cash or cheques made payable to “Basildon Burn Running Club”. There will also be a Registration desk for the Children’s races. This year, we have the whole of the Village Hall available to us, so please do make use of the facilities for changing, toilets and refreshments. This is also where the first aiders will be situated should you need assistance. There will be hot dogs and hot/cold drinks available for purchase before and after the race. Parking is available at the Hall if you arrive early, otherwise, Basildon School has kindly donated their car park . There is then a footpath (follow sign) that runs through the school grounds and between houses and fields which emerges along Bethesda Street, just a few hundred meters up from the Village Hall (a nice little warm up). A horn will sound at 9.50 for runners to congregate at the Race start which will be clearly marked. The race will then start at 10am (or as near as we can possibly make it). You will run a lap of the field before exiting to the road section of the course. Those running one lap of the course (3.5K) should re-enter the field at the end of their run and run diagonally across the field to the finish post. Those continuing should run anti-clockwise (ie turn right when you re-enter the field from the woods) round the edge of the field and back out onto the road again. When the 7K & 10K runners have completed their correct number of laps, they should run diagonally across the field to the finish post. The route will be clearly signposted and you will be directed by marshals at road junctions for your safety. Although we are using timers, you would be best advised to time your own run, and we will post them on the Basildon Burn website. There will be prizes for all three categories with many thanks to Trail Junkies (trailjunkies.com) for donating them. Many thanks to Warminghams for sponsoring parts of the event and thanks to The Hairy Legs Challenge Event Team (www.hairylegs.org) for their invaluable advice and support. Please note that there will be a children’s race after the main event (approx 11.15) with 2 categories (8yrs & under, 9’s and above). Entry fee: £3 - You can also enter on-line at the summer fete or on the day. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact one of the Committee. The Basildon Burn Committee |
