Apr 27th - The Owls are still close to the house. Without owlets they don't seem to feel the need to move deeper into the surrounding woods. We love it.

Feb 1st - Mrs Owl continues to spend an hour or so on the nest each night. This is not a typical nesting season.

Jan 26 - We are expecting Mrs Owl to enter the box any day. She visits regularly and has spent more than an hour several times. Join my 'crowd' on Ustream to see the live video streams.

Nov 23 - We have seen and heard the owls and it looks likely they will be using the nest box again this year. I plan on using Ustream to broadcast 24/7 during the nesting season. Hope you will join us.

Barred Owls
are large owls that go by many names. Swamp Owl, Hoot Owl, and Wood Owl just to name a few.

We are lucky enough to share our space with a pair of Barred Owls that have grown to tolerate us. They seem to feel secure nesting within 30 feet of our house. We try to respect them and don't have any pets or domestic animals to complicate their life.

Over the years you will see we have recorded their life in various ways including written logs, video and stills. We enjoy their calls and visits. This site is an attempt to share that joy.

We hope to expand this content as time goes on.
