Ladies and Gentlemen..... The Barracudas!

Raveen Panday (Vocals & Keyboards) started out as a backup singer with the Chronic Blues Band and took up keyboards in 1997. Now, a decade later, he's the quintessential bluesman… pounding the keys and hollering the blues. Before joining Barracuda Blues Band, Raveen was part of several other Bangalore bands including Blue In Green, Stretch, The Bacon Samba Ensemble and The Little Big Blues Band. His musical idols include Pinetop Perkins, Dr. John, Herbie Hancock, Muddy Waters, Willie Dixon and several others.

Vasudev Prabhu (Harmonica & Vocals) first heard the hauntingly beautiful wail of the blues harp as a teenager. Instantly, he knew he had to answer that call. Armed with a diatonic harp and a deep passion for the blues, Dev spent over a decade pursuing that Chicago blues sound. Along the way, he played with several city musicians before co-founding the Barracuda Blues Band. Dev's harmonica gurus include James Cotton, Billy Branch, Paul Butterfield and Kim Wilson.

Arjun Chandran (Guitars & Vocals) has been playing music professionally for the last six years, during which time he has performed for ensembles ranging from hard rock and blues bands to bebop, funk jazz and jazz-rock outfits. He has played regularly around the country at jazz and blues events in Hyderabad, Pune, Pondicherry (and Auroville), Bangalore and Bombay. He performed in 2006 at the Bombay Jazz Utsav supported by Gino Banks (son of pianist Louis Banks) on drums and virtuoso bass guitarist Sheldon D'Silva, and was well-received by the Bombay jazz community.

Arjun has also had the opportunity to sit in with accomplished jazz artistes like Saskia Laroo (Netherlands), The Images Quartette (France), NuBox (Germany), Warren Byrd (USA) and The Three Ragas (Pondicherry).

Arjun is 24 years old, self-taught and now lives in Bangalore. Some of his music can be heard at www.myspace.com/ezzthetix and www.myspace.com/originalsintrax

Vinod "VD" D'sa (Bass & Vocals) -Four strings instead of six, a larger fingerboard to play on and a fascination with low-end thump led VD to heft a bass. Moonlighting in local strip joints whilst in college helped him polish his licks that were then exported to weddings, college festivals, beach jams and even, paradoxically, churches. VD is greatly influenced by Grateful Dead, The Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd and Phish among others.

Nishant John (drums) - Having experimented with rock, funk, bluegrass, jazz and… well,
experimental stuff, he decided to give blues a shot. First bluesing
out with The Little Big Blues Band. And now, with the Barracudas. He's
also played various gigs at Madras, Bangalore and Coimbatore, with a
lot of bands. But most notably, with Tinleaf. He's always looking for
great new music. And occasionally helps Dev in his search for that Chicago harp sound.
