Welcome back Eric !

Thanks to all the band members, dep Jackie and helpers for their efforts today and to Stuart for organising the event.

Barnton is the very first band to play in the new wooden lodge at the park.

Mayday rehearsals

posted 2 May 2012 11:53 by mike miller   [ updated 2 May 2012 11:55 ]

On Friday Barnton had a dress rehearsal with Knutsford Carnival Mayday dancers at the Unitarian Chapel. This went very well with a record early finish.

Full speed ahead for the real thing on Saturday 5th May.

A combined rehearsal turnout of note ...

posted 16 Mar 2012 10:33 by mike miller   [ updated 16 Mar 2012 10:37 ]

Barnton Band reached a milestone at the rehearsal last Tuesday (13th March) when the record number of 11 Training band members played on with the senior band after 8pm (out of a total of 21 players).

This year we are forging ahead with our rebuilding of the community focused band and this is a very encouraging sign for us.

Combined band conductor Brian seems to agree, as he enthusiastically punches the air.

Social and Presentation night proved quite a "Blow Out"

posted 1 Feb 2012 10:12 by mike miller   [ updated 1 Feb 2012 10:15 ]

As a reward for the hard work collecting over Christmas for the bands and our supported Charity "Steps", we had a great Social night on Sat 28th Jan at the Village Hall.

A high point was the Training Band awards of the "Most Improved Player" and "Players' Player" won by Alice and Zoe, respectively. Congratulations!

Emily and Elizabeth also received their ABRSM Music Grade 2 certificates, so well done!

After Disco and WII Bowling, it was "eyes down" for the bingo then it was "compound eyes down" for a good old fashioned "Beetle Drive". After all that activity, energy was replaced with chip butties.

Barnton Band furthers success as matchmaker

The happy couple got set up for the new year by marrying on New Year's Eve in the South, near where Chris's family live.

We wish Chris and Karen all the very best together and lots more playing with Barnton Band (of course!)

The NorthWich doth blow .... 20th Dec

posted 24 Dec 2011 08:39 by mike miller

Shoppers driven wild with Christmas frenzy were given a soothing balm of Brass Band music as we played 3 sets in the Weaver Vale Centre of Northwich.

This was to provide support for the excellent collecting efforts of the Round Table.

The Training band played the 3rd set much to the interest of the local children who were watching. Do they want to learn to play an instrument ?
