Hill Country Ranch
Hunt deer, turkey and hogs in the Texas Hill Country
We are now booking for the 2011 Season!!
Opening weekend special 4 hunts for the price of 3!!!!
The Bar None Ranch is located in a remote portion of Mason County about 30 minutes south of Mason, Texas in the James River valley.. The James River, with its numerous springs, flows through the ranch (resulting in lots of turkey) . And you will love the beautiful hunting lodge. The ranch is a 2 hour drive from Austin and San Antonio and 5 hours from Dallas.
For 2011, hunting at the Bar None is limited to the last weekend in October (10/29and 10/30, which is TP&W's "youth season" for youth age 16 and younger) and two weekends in November and December (dates to be determined by hunter interest, and "Opening Weekend" is open at this time). We will only host 4 hunters on the same weekend, whether they book as one group of friends or whether we piece together from hunters who do not know each other to hunt the same weekend.
The ranch feeds wild game on a year-round basis. The blinds are designed for two/three (one can handle 2 adults and 2 kids). Transportation to/from the blinds is provided. The ranch perimeter is largely high fenced (75%), but open gaps allow for the free movement of game in and out of the ranch.
The lodge features 4 private bedrooms, a complete and modern kitchen, 2 baths, and covered porch on all sides of the lodge. Plus upstairs, the lodge features a large open room loft area that sleeps many and has a pool table. Outside, you will enjoy the large smoker/BBQ pit, a fireplace built into the exterior of the lodge, and a large "storytellers fire pit". Firewood is provided.
An entire hunting party of friends or family can book the ranch, or you can join others at the lodge. The pricing structure is set to include your children and grandchildren, and even spouses and friends are included in the hunt fee (See "Deer Hunt Fee" page).
Most bucks taken are either 8 or 10 pointers. When it comes to shooting a fork-antlered buck, hunters are asked to only harvest a mature buck. But we’ll leave that up to you, as the hunt fee allows you only get take up to two white-tailed deer (either sex, but no more than one non-spike whitetail buck, no limit on points or antler size), plus 1 turkey (either sex) and 2 hogs. As long as a family or friends hunt together in one blind, the hunt fee includes everyone. The hunt/lodging fee is only $850 for the last weekend of October's youth hunt, or $850 for a November/December weekends. Extra deer/turkey/hogs can be purchased.
Hunters are to arrive after 8 PM on Friday night, hunt Saturday and Sunday morning, and leave for home by 2 PM Sunday.
The ranch manager is on site and is available as needed to dress game, quarter game, track wounded game, have the coffee ready when you wake, or to serve as camp cook (tips are welcomed). Or do it all yourself.
