1. Zerene cesonia (family Pieridae)

The caterpillar inventory of the ACG began in 1977.  Nevertheless Zerene cesonia caterpillars were not found until 2000, and 2002 was a very good year.  It has been found eating only one species of food plant, a small legume called Dalea carthagenensis.
