Morpho amathonte

11.  Morpho amathonte (family Nymphalidae)

Morpho
caterpillars are not famous like their shining blue adults, but they should be.  No one would call them sleek and elegant like the adults; they have their own completely different color palette and style.

The eye-spotted camouflaged undersides of the adults and all 300 rearing records of Morpho amathonte can be seen here.
