Amber Alert
A chilling new thriller.

A child is missing. Abducted in broad daylight. For DI Janice

But as the odds stack against her, a different picture emerges. What if there was another, far more chilling explanation?

AMBER Alert, And a Candlelight Vigil
Arlington, Texas - The family of Amber Hagerman, whose abduction and murder spurred the nationwide AMBER Alert system, holds a candlelight vigil near the spot where Amber was kidnapped 14 years ago. Family members include Donna Norris (center), Amber's mother; seated: Glenda Whitson, Amber's maternal grandmother; and Rickey Hagerman, Amber's brother, who was with Amber when she was kidnapped. In spite of a long-standing $75,000 reward Amber's killer has not been caught. © Robert Hughes/ZUMApress
Amber Alert
This helicopter was hovering in place over my house for quite a while- some 10-15 minutes. I went to the local news and saw there was an Amber Alert in our area, so presume this is what that was, as the article mentioned helicopters. Probably when you see a manhunt type of situation, it isn't the brightest thing to run out your door and start snapping photos. And they were probably looking at me.

In 2006 the USPS issued this 39c stamp in recognition of AMBER which stands for America's Missing: Broadcast Emergency Response. The AMBER plan was created in 1997 after nine-year-old Amber Hagerman was kidnapped in Arlington, Texas, and then brutally murdered. An AMBER Alert goes out when there is information on the abducted child, captor, or captor's vehicle, and when the child is at risk of serious injury or death. AMBER Alerts then interrupt regular programming on radio and television and appear on electronic highway signs. All 50 states now have AMBER Alert plans.
