Sharing compelling stories about people and events that change lives, communities and the world define the spirit of Ballinran Productions Limited, a television production company incorporated since July 24, 1995.    Craig Thompson, a writer, journalist and former network news correspondent, is the company’s President and Executive Producer and continues to be Ballinran’s sole Shareholder and Director.

 

Based in Stratford, Ontario, Ballinran has produced more than 100 hours of television programming for broadcasters including CBC, CTV, Outdoor Life Network, PBS, HGTV, Food and History Television. The company’s recent production credits include: The Manic Organic, (Food/HGTV) which has recently been sold by co-production partner Breakthrough Films and Television to 33 territories around the world including BBC Food Network and A Hero to Me, the story of First World War Flying Ace Billy Bishop for Global Television and TVO.

 

The company is currently co-producing with Tile Films of Ireland a two-hour docu-drama entitled Summer of Sorrow, which tells the haunting tale of how the Irish famine washed upon the shores of Toronto in 1847.  Also in development is a documentary entitled Wake-up Call based on the forthcoming book by Ottawa Citizen journalist Juliet O’Neill on the Maher Arar case and her pursuit of the truth.
