Michael's Mural for my Fireplace My friend Michael Willhoite (whose murals may be seen elsewhere in my photostream) painted this beautiful mural as a housewarming gift. I asked him to paint it as though it were a fireplace surrounded by decorative tiles. We chose the motifs based on things I inherited from my grandmother's house mostly, with some other meaningful family associations, and homoeroticism of course, thrown in. The detail work is amazing! I finally got tired of using a cardboard box to block the fireplace (no, not while there was a fire in there). So I ordered a screen. I'm rather pleased with it. It has a few decorative glass panels and the rest is screen. And there's double doors in the middle, so you don't have to move the whole screen to tend the fire.
