!!! Cotton Blossom II v2.1 update !!!

veröffentlicht um 24.10.2011 03:56 von Balduin Aabye   [ 15.11.2011 09:38 wurde aktualisiert. ]

I'm very happy to announce the new Cotton Blossom II v2.1
Cotton Blossom II has now the very unique and new BWind engine by Becca Moulliez!

** Sailing by Feel **

The Cotton Blossom II v2.0 gets you much closer to real life with "sailing by feel". By watching your sails (see if they are luffing or flapping), watching your wind direction on your compass, and watching your telltails (the strings on your sails) you can sail your boat without the need for a lot of HUD support. This is a giant step closer to real life -- try it as you are fun sailing.

What is new?
  • you have now full WWC support (wind, waves, current, wind shadowing and variations)
  • you have now animated telltales!
  • you have now luffing sails and collapsing spinnaker
  • you have now an attachable HUD and/or hover text info
  • and you have all the nice and fun features of v1.74 of course :)
If you own a Cotton Blossom II you'll get the update for free. The only thing you have to do is rezzing the old version and the new packet will fly on you.

Noodles review of Bolero v2.0

Noodles wrote a review about our latest update of Bolero v2.0. I hardly recommend reading Noodles logbook. I appreciate that she is sharing her knowledge about sailing in real and in second life™ very much. Thank you very much for sharing your thoughts Noodles!

The unique Bolero

The Bolero is a very nice replica of a knockabout sloop. Nice and easy sailing. Windvane with colourshift to indicate trim. Low lag, easy sim crossings plus beautiful animations made her a good choice for some relaxing sailing. Now, there is a major update called the Bolero II.

So here she is. Notice any differences from the old Bolero? I'll tell you the defining difference. It has telltales. Yes, working telltales. Not only is this the first bwind boat with telltales; It is the first boat in the history of SL sailing, that comes with realistically moving telltales. They wiggle as you sail - just like real telltales.
Balduin and I getting ready for a test cruise.
So many people have told me, that telltales are impossible to build in SL. It has been a little hard to understand, as both the Flying Fizz and the Shelly Fizz featured working telltales since 2008. When I've talked about wiggling telltales, I've only recieved rolling eyeballs for an answer. Thank you, Balduin, for breaking that barrier. You rock! So, - want a close up of those tales?
Beam reach with spin.
I love this picture. It captures the very essence of sailing the Bolero. Main is trimmed right, spin is up, we're actuallu going pretty fast, and yet we sit back, relax, - and have time to talk while sipping hot coffee from the thermo. The spin is also great. It looks great, it is easy to trim, and it collapses visually while making a terrible flapping noise. I am telling you, everybody on board knows when the trimmer is not paying attention. Want a closer closeup?

Yeah! I will leave it up to you to try the collapsing spin. Ofcourse that never happens to me, so no pictures, hehe.

Maybe some of you wonder how the animated telltales on Bolero v2.0 look like. What you see on the picture below is exactly how the telltales are working in-world:

Scripted Personal Flotation Device

We all know the situation, after a crash and relog we find us on the ground of the ocean! It is an uncomfortable situation in anyway. This PFD can't avoid you from crashing, but after a crash and relog it keeps you floating safely on water.

Orcas's review about HoverTube

veröffentlicht um 05.07.2011 13:47 von Balduin Aabye   [ 05.07.2011 13:59 wurde aktualisiert. ]

This review is posted at Orca's World from Orca. Thank you so much for this nice post and nice pictures!

Today Charlz bought some HoverTubes by Balduin Aabye for Fi, Kitten and me. WOW! What a cooll tool. Of course we girls fell in ove with those hovercrafts immediately. They are fast, very fast ... indeed so fast I was hardly able to control it with my high-pinged and crashy connection. Still a lot of fun drifting through the curves with it, eventhough I mostly miss my target.

Charlz and Kitten started rezzing ramps already after a few minutes and showed off their skills with some aerobatics. Here Kitten jumps over Charlz ...

... while Charlz did some highly dangerous jumps from ramp to ramp.

This doesn't just look hot and fast, it is!
A word of warning: KIDZ! DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME! The drivers in the pictures are professionally trained stunt avies!
