Dan is the silent partner of a very unique store In Bakersfield. At present, his store is one of two stores in Town that offer mainly Vinyl for sale. The Store is DarkStar Records and Books. They are located at 1024 Truxton Ave. In Bakersfield, CA. 93301 Their Phone Number is (661) 859 - 0241 If your unaware, Vinyl is what Records are referred to back in the day, along with a plethora of other terms. Records have become quite a big deal to many outside of Bakersfield. Dan says that some will drive 500 miles to buy an Album, and that some will think seriously about purchasing a record before paying bills or buying food. Customers coming from out of town will spend the serious money in his store. It seems the locals just don't want to support such a venture, which is really a shame. DarkStar has a lot offer, and what is displayed is just the tip of the Iceberg according to Dan, A former radio DJ, has been around music for a very long time. He also was and is a rather serious Dead head, a follower of the Band Grateful Dead. He told me he has seen over 300 Grateful Dead Concerts.  |
