The Lapper

It has happened to everyone, and everyone will agree that it's not fun.  I'm talking about getting lapped.  The lapper is a team strategy in which one player tries to race out front ahead of everyone while one or more players try to hold and delay a member from the opposing team from advancing.  The goal is to hold the opponent until the lead man has raced around the track and caught up to the holders again - now he is one full lap ahead.  The lapper then goes after the opponent who has been held back and tries to delay him while the original holders race away.  As long as the lapper is fighting with the poor guy, his teammates can pull away quickly and gain a huge lead.  When a lapper actually reaches his victim, it is often difficult for the other team to recover.

If you see on the map that the opposing team has sent a lapper, it is a good idea to try and avoid fighting with enemies and just try to keep moving around the track.  If you notice your teammate is is getting lapped, a good strategy is to find the nearest opponent and try to hold him back as long as possible.  You want to avoid letting the other team take advantage of your man being held back.

Getting lapped can be very frustrating - and even embarrassing - especially to beginners.  If it happens to you, don't sweat it - but don't forget it, either.  Be sure to keep your eye on the map and to remind yourself to do less fighting and more GOING!
Tips:
  • Teammates usually keep an eye out for lappers.  If your teammate warns you about a lapper, you know it's time to get a move on.  Likewise, let your team know that a lapper is on the way if you notice someone else is in danger.
