SPEED !!!

It doesn't take long to notice that success in Badlove has a lot to do with how fast you can move around the track.  Beginners: please understand that there is an acceleration button (<up arrow> by default) and a FULL THROTTLE button (<shift>).  USE FULL THROTTLE ALWAYS!!!  :)  Also, I would recommend driving in 'manual' mode as opposed to 'automatic,' as manual drivers typically accelerate more quickly and have a couple advantages when it comes to controlling the car.  But don't get me wrong - there are plenty of fast and deadly automatic drivers out there, so beware!

The vast majority of Badlove games are played on High Speed Loop, so it wouldn't hurt to become familiar with the track.  One of the best ways to do this is to use the Time Trial mode of Redline (yes, available to Demo users, also) to try and beat your personal best lap time, as well as try to place on the Redline Hall of Fame list.  To keep up in a tough Badlove game you should be able to finish a lap on HSL in under 39.00 seconds on a consistent basis.  However you will find that most experienced players can complete a lap in under 38 seconds without a problem, and a few have even finished in under 37 seconds.  Take a few moments every so often to run 20, 30, hey - 50 laps around the ol' HSL!

Quick lap times demonstrate a good understanding of how to control the Vette.  If you are driving in manual, it is important to learn the correct timing in order to shift through the gears as smoothly as possible.  Using the hand brake (<space>) while turning corners is essential to avoiding the walls and maintaining speed.  It is worthwhile to experiment with the hand brake in order to figure out the correct time to press it and release it through the corners.

Tips:
  • This might sound obvious, but to maintain speed, keep your tires on the pavement, and off of the dirt and grass.  Even straying from the road momentarily can slow you down enough for your opponent to catch you.
