LOBBY SNAPSHOT:

Welcome to Badlove - a team game played in the multiplayer section of Redline (racing game from Ambrosia Software).  While the rules are simple, the strategy and techniques required are complex and should be under continuous revision.

Typical Badlove games consist of two teams, each with three members.  The host decides the "line" - or team configuration - and announces it using the first letters of the colors.  Though the ideal game is 3 against 3, games that are 4 on 4, or 2 on 2, are also quite common.  If you have an odd number of players (i.e. 5 or 7), then the odd man will be the rogue, whose job it is to help the team that is behind.

There are no individual winners, only a winning team (and a losing one).  The first team with all of its members across the finish wins - simple.  This means that a player must make it a point to keep himself out of last position, while at the same time helping any teammates that might fall behind as well.  A Badlove game is a dirty, chaotic team race, but with practice you will learn to channel the chaos and use it to your advantage.

I'm Benny, a Redline regular.  Below I have organized a few thoughts about Badlove strategy and technique.  Badlove is simple with respect to the rules, difficult with respect to mastering your technique and amazingly fun with respect to playing it!  Because this game calls for a great amount of thinking as well as driving skill, I thought I would share what I have gathered from my own experience playing.  I hope some people can find this site helpful, and if you want any advice, feel free to ask me, Benny Lava, online, or send me an email:

AUTHOR'S NOTE: I realize that the language used in parts of this site is not exactly gender-sensitive with regard to personal pronouns. I typically only use the masculine pronoun (he, him, his, etc.), but I recognize that many Badlove players are females. Please understand that I have chosen to write this way simply for the sake of simplicity of language, and not to try and exclude females. There is no correlation between gender and Badlove skill.
