Thursday 5/10/2012 Ch 24 explorations


This is going to be a quick over view of ch 24.  Do this on a sheet of loose leaf paper. You need to go through each of the 4 sections in ch 23 and :
  • Describe 1 picture, what is it showing you and what you can learn from it
  • describe the main idea behind the section (short summary 20 words or less)
  • pick out the two most important vocab terms from each section and describe them and tell why you thought they were the two most important terms
  • pick out one main concept from each section and write a paragraph as if your were explaining it to your mother

Natural selection simulation lab
 
You need to create an excel table that contains all of the data from class that was on the board. you then need to create a line graph from this data.
 
you should also write the following sections:
Title- come up with a title that clearly explains what the simulation was and what it was about.
Methods- write down in extreme detail what happened in the lab. how did the lab work. your methods section should be detailed enough so that someone else can conduct the experiment from reading your instructions.
Results- describe what happened in the simulation. put the data down into paragraph form.
Conclusion- you can put your voice into this section and talk about why you got the results that you did.
 
Answer the following questions
how did this lab simulate natural selection?
 
did every group have the same success in collecting beans? how did that impact their "populations"?
 
How did the introduction of the spoon group impact the other groups?
 
If we had kept running this experiment, what would have happened? explain.

O= Primate
F= Hominidae
G= Homo
S= Sapien
