Valve sizing - 700r4 auxiliary valve body - Minimum pressure check valve Valve Sizing
valves Russian Submarine U480 Zeebrugge, Belgium Artistic value: low. See previous images for the exterior (tower). This wall of valves just totally amazed me at just how rudimentary this ship was, but still able to swim and navigate underwater with a crew of 75. Of course there is method in the madness (which is the real beauty of it)--apparently the shapes/sizes of the wheels differ so that their function can be read in the dark. They also sound different when hit with a metal object. That is the captain's chair in the back (he also had his own toilet which a few priviledged others were also allowed to use. It was a clear sign of who is who on the ship--who did there business where). Valve spring compresser
No off the shelf tools were available to use as valve spring compressors, none that would fit anyway. The area inside the head and the tiny size of the valves forced me to come up with this. You can't really see it in this photo, but on the bottom left is a hole that fits over a cam retaining stud. I loosely threaded on a nut to hold the lever. Thats a 22mm socket welded to the bottom of the bar. It's used to hold the primary spring keeper removing tool seen in the next photo. The upper bar is used for leverage to compress the spring.
