- lampshade: a protective ornamental shade used to screen a light bulb from direct view
- The shade serves the important function of blocking the glare from a light bulb and is usually the most decorative part of a lamp. The lamp shade can be made of glass, fabric, metal, or other more creative materials.
- A lampshade is a fixture that covers the lightbulb on a lamp to diffuse the light it emits. Conical, cylindrical and other forms on floor-, desk- or table top-mounted as well as suspended lamp models are the most common and are made in a wide range of materials.
Vintage Hand-Painted Milk Glass Lamp - Pink Rose - Circa 1950-1960s
I love this lamp - and it works, too! This lamp does not come with a shade, so you'll need to purchase one individually, but it should be easy to find at any home store. You'll need one that attaches to the bulb itself. If you'd rather buy a glass shade like it once had, I've seen matching ones on Ebay for about $10. The lamp is 8 inches tall and is 15 inches in diameter around the largest part of the milk glass. The center of the lamp is made of white glass, and hand painted on the front is a large pink rose, with green leaves that spread out, and at the ends of the green leaves, small pink rose buds. If you rub your finger on the rose, you can feel the paint. It is in great condition - the painting doesn't have any flaws.
vintage lamp
My mom, Sycamore Shades, Created this lampshade to go on my very favorite blue glass lamp. She used a vintage curtain panel and even made the flower! I just LOVE it and it fits perfectly in this spot!!
