Front Mounted Bike Seat. Snugride 32 Infant Car Seat Base. Front Mounted Bike Seat
Dad's disc trekking bike chassis profile Low 5" radius sweep (60mm rake) on the fork legs, horizontal top tube and horizontal matching lugged stem. I still have to braze on the front disc mount and cable guides, clean the fork and stem of flux, and clean the shorelines, but I couldn't resist putting it together right quick. Details include brazed on stainless steel half tubular cable guides under the bottom bracket, stainless dished seat stay caps, lugged stainless dropouts front and rear, and seriously modified Pacenti lugs, bottom bracket, and Pacenti artisan flat fork crown. Lugged stem kit is from a Taiwanese lug maker. 72 degree head tube and 60mm fork rake make for about 45mm trail, 11mm below "neutral". It'll add low speed stability, especially on rough roads and trails. This was the same trail preferred by Eddy Merckx for cobblestone road stages, but with mellowed out responsiveness of a 72 degree head tube... It also happens to be the steering geometry of most of the nice English three speed "path racers" of a few decades ago. front row seating
We bought a fancy new front-mounted child seat for Chris' bike. Chris gives mixed reviews because he says its hard to access the brakes. Samantha, however, seems delighted with her new view.
