    placemat
  • A placemat is a protective table pad usually made of paper, plastic or cloth for restaurants and households. Asian-style placemats may feature thin slats of bamboo or colourful beads. The term is derived from the mat being put at a person's "place" (chair) at a table.

I was going to have Erin narrate this, but decided it was good without it. After placing parts on the placemat, glue into place. Heat laminate for protection. Good idea to use 1/2 posterboard for the placemat size and do printing on acid-free white cardstock. If you use trace pattern, trace onto black acid-free cardstock. I've posted fresh downloadable parts for this - available through Creative Commons for Attribution, Noncommercial, No Derivative Works. See 1st comment. Let me know if you have any questions.

Love this pattern! I used several Asian-inspired cotton prints, and a few others that seemed to blend well. Pattern is from a great book: I Love Patchwork by Rashida Coleman-Hale.
