Following World War II, he started a small plastics factory in St. Louis, appropriately called the W. V. Baron Plastics Company. Baron was able to start the company by buying a large quantity of scrap Lucite from McDonnell Douglas. The Lucite was heated and then cut into a variety of products, all of Baron's design. Included among his many designs is this box-shaped Lucite purse from the 1950s. A silk scarf would have been used to hide the contents of the purse. Baron also designed items such as serving dishes, cosmetic trays, and an S-shaped stand for displays. Lucite purses
Two of my favorite Lucite purses, both made in Hong Kong. The white one has a Walborg label, and the coppery one is labeled Stylecraft Miami.
