My Car Accident. On my was to school at 7:15am I hit a patch of ice and my car started to spin. My car turned about 180 degrees and slammed my side directly into a telephone pole, breaking the pole almost in half and smashing my window and windshield. I hit my head on either the pole or glass, I honestly don't remember, and my hand was caught between the door and my steering wheel. My door was caved in to where it was basically on my lap. Once I felt the impact I started feeling this warm sensation on me head and it was moving to my face. That's when I realized that, that was my blood dripping into my eyes and mouth. I had bits of glass all over my body, and even had to get a couple out of my eyes. Also I had to yank my hand from where the door met the steering wheel reviling a very purple hand. My first reaction was to call my mom. I don't think I've ever wept so hard in my life. I was terrified. A police officer was there almost instantly there because there were two other accidents on the same road because of the ice. Also a neighbor was there helping me calm down and he wanted to know if he could do anything. The police officer put a tarp down on the passenger seat and he held me under my arms and he had to yank me out. It would be impossible to even try to open the driver's door. I went home and changed clothes, took a photo and headed to the Emergency Room. Everyone was extremely nice. I went to pediatrics, because I'm 17, and I got to watch the little mermaid in my room. In the end I peed in a cup, got a chest and hand x-ray, got my head stapled, and a splint on my left had/arm. I'm very lucky to be alive. I was told later that when I hit the telephone pole that my car moved it about 1 yard. If it hadn't been raining as much as it had, the ground wouldn't have been moist. That would have meant that the pole wouldn't have moved to slow down my impact, but just stop me all of the sudden. That would have most likely killed me. Thank you so much to everyone that called and texted me. I'm doing just fine. I'm a little bruised up and I have a headache, but I got off easy. I wish you all the best, -Bernice. Car Dragged By Truck
A couple had a narrow escape this afternoon after the vehicle they were travelling in was dragged by a truck for about 50m down the N3 South bound near Liberty Mall. Traffic was stopped due to the accident, making it very difficult for emergency personnel to attend to the scene. Once on scene they found the light motor vehicle in the left hand lane of the freeway, with the truck just a few meters away. The driver of the car was found walking around on scene, while the female passenger was found seated on the back seat. The woman who was shaken up from the ordeal was also treated for possible neck and back injuries. Both driver and passenger were transported to a nearby hospital for further medical care. It is unclear how the accident occurred but the necessary authorities were on the scene and would be investigating the incident further.
