We wrote to Tony Blair to say: "We the undersigned urge the Government to investigate, promote, and encourage the use of solar cooking technologies in the developing world, especially in refugee camps in conflict-affected states.
Solar cookers are a win-win technology in sun-rich, fuel-scarce areas. Costing around $2 each, they reduce smoke and lung diseases as well as pasteurize unsafe drinking water. Perhaps most importantly, solar cookers have particular benefits for women living in refugee camps where leaving the safety of the compound to collect twigs for firewood often exposes them to rape and murder."

Solar Soy Vay Chicken

This was made in my home-made hot pot. The 9" cake pan fits great in my glass bowl, and the handles make it easy to lift the pan out of the bowl. Recipe: 1 chicken breast cut into slices and rubbed with Soy Vay marinade. Put in solar cooker for one hour or until done. I made this dish in late November on the island of Kaua'i. The sun is fairly low at this time of the year, but the windshade funnel cooker works great when set in the horizontal position. I can even start cooking first thing in the morning with this reflector. It actually gets hotter when the sun is lower - up to 325°F.
