04 Peoria's Jet Rocket - Passenger Car Interior This is from a set of seven photographs I took of Rock Island’s Talgo Jet Rocket train that ran between Peoria and Chicago starting in February 1956 but was taken out of service on this route sometime in 1957 because of its very rough ride. I took these while on a 6th grade field trip. Although the date on the side of these show Mar 1956—that was when they were processed. I’m pretty sure these were taken in February 1956. From the appearance of the interior it looks like maybe the train had yet to make its maiden run. I stil remember thinking it was the neatest train I had ever seen. I never did get to take a trip on it. I hope you enjoy these photos. The seats are roped off and still covered in protective plastic—that's why I think it hasn't been in service yet. A close up shot of my VW First Act guitar. Volkswagen sent it to me as a promotional gift when i bought my GTI. I lucked out because i am already a guitar player. Just another one to add to my collection. Yes, it still has the protective plastic covering the face. Thats because i want to keep it in mint condition. You never know, it might be worth some money some years down the road. Btw, this guitar plugs into an auxilary jack in the glove compartment and plays through the car speakers. Worlds Fastest Amp!!! It has VW Logos throughout the guitar. There are the ones on the knobs, one on the twelfth fret, one on the back where the neck meets the body and one on the shoulder strap, which btw is the same material used in the car for the seat belt.
