Topeak rack for child seat
Topeak rack for child seat
Not your ordinary rear rack, this one weighs 3 lb and is thick, cast alloy. It could easily support an adult. It mates to a quick-release topeak child seat. The yellow bar slides out, and when inserted keeps the seat locked in place. Note the extra mounting tab on one of the stays... presumably I can connect it to the second unused eyelet on the rear dropout via a universal rack bracket. This way, in the unlikely event that an eyelet snaps, there's a secondary support system. Precious cargo and all...

Erika was fine. Joey had one of those scratches/scrapes from the seat belt. Alison had a knob on her head from hitting part of the base where the seat belt was mounted (she was sitting in the front passenger side). I took her to Children's Hospital. She's fine.
