International Friendship Children's Hospital

The International Friendship Children's Hospital (IFCH) is a non-government funded pediatric hospital located in Kathmandu, Nepal. This hospital was created in with the vision that children in and around the Kathmandu area should have access to quality pediatric healthcare.

Like its name suggests, the aim of IFCH is to develop international friendships with those who share the belief that children in all countries should have quality healthcare. Together with BABU, IFCH hopes to set up an internship to encourage anyone in the medical profession, childcare industry, or even volunteers and tourists to come visit and contribute to the hospital. Together we can share ideas on how to improve conditions in hospitals of Nepal.

The hospital was founded in 2008 by Dr. Shanta Shakya. Dr. Shakya has worked at various medical institutes in the Kathmandu area and strongly believes that the children of Nepal have a right to proper medical treatment. Frustrated with the state of the healthcare system in Kathmandu, with IFCH he has created a professional atmosphere with very high standards for the hospital and his staff. Doing so, Dr. Shakya has created an environment that is one of a kind in Nepal, and hopefully will serve as a model for other hospitals to follow.

Along with the internship, BABU is in the midst of collecting medical equipment and supplies from various health care institutions in Canada. Our aim is to provide support to the hospital in a cost effective and efficient way. Currently, we are trying to equip the hospital with a fully functioning surgery ward as well as an intensive care unit.
